As part of our Economic Insights Series,
we introduce you to some of our excellent faculty.
Dr. Dale DeBoer receives rave reviews for his unique and compelling ability to
inform, interest, and engage his CCEE audiences on the most critical issues of
our time.
His current research is focused on the sources of long-term growth in the United
States economy. He is the recipient of four teaching awards including the
University of Colorado’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award in 1999. Dale
will leave you wanting more.
The severity of the current economic downturn took the government and Fed by
surprise. The magnitude of their response took society by surprise. Amidst these
mutual surprises lie many unanswered questions. In exploring these questions,
Dr. DeBoer will show how changes in the international economy and policy errors
pulled society from the “Goldilocks” economy of the 1990s to the deficit economy
of 2009. More importantly, he will discuss how those international changes when
combined with shifting domestic demographics pose significant challenges to the
U.S. economy over the next 20 years. Finally, he will discuss how the government
may best respond to the economic challenges of the 21st Century.
