2012 Enterprising Teacher of the Year Award

Are you, or do you know, an outstanding teacher of economics or financial literacy? Colorado Council on Economic Education is accepting nominations for exemplary teachers of these academic disciplines (as well as those who integrate these disciplines into other subjects) for its 25th annual Enterprising Teacher of the Year Award. Accompanying the recognition is a $2,000 award, provided by generous support from Wells Fargo. Nominees are judged by an impartial panel made up of CCEE Board members using the following criteria: 1) a keen interest in and knowledge of these academic disciplines; 2) a personal commitment to acquire the best pedagogical methods in teaching these disciplines; 3) a demonstration of using the resources of CCEE and CEE; 4) an ability to inspire student appreciation for and interest in these disciplines; 5) promotion of these academic disciplines beyond the classroom walls.

The judging questions appear below. You can submit your responses online from this site or send them electronically (as an attachment) to Marc A. Johnson at mjohnson@ccee.net. Student testimonials are optional. You can find sample applications from previous winners at this website.

If you are selected as the award recipient you will be expected to be present on Friday, April 13, 2012, at the 25th annual Colorado Council for the Social Studies Conference. You will be honored in front of the state social studies community at that time.

Deadline for nominations is February 15, 2012
