Robert L. Clinton Honored with
National Economic Education Leadership Award

Denver (Nov. 1) -- Robert L. Clinton, President of the nonprofit Colorado Council for Economic Education (CCEE) www.ccee.net is the winner of the 2010 John C. Schramm Leadership from the National Association of Economic Educators and the national Council for Economic Education www.councilforeconed.org.  The mission of these organizations is teacher training in economics and personal financial literacy.

He is the first recipient from Colorado to receive the prestigious award that recognizes an individual whose leadership in economic education has had an extraordinary impact at the state and national levels.

Clinton’s enthusiastic nominators speak to his dedication and commitment to the expansion of economic education in Colorado and throughout the country.  He brings a contagious passion to the mission, and he is successful in fundraising, promotions, and council sustainability.

“Rob’s enthusiasm, support, and encouragement for Colorado K-12 teachers is invaluable inspiration for them to set challenging goals for growth and professional development.  This is like jet fuel for our schools, and leads to stimulating and relevant learning environments in economics,” said CCEE and Univ. of Colorado at Colorado Springs, professor, John Brock, PhD.

Clinton’s expertise in law, public policy, and economics provide him with a unique background to further the mission of economic literacy. He received his B.A. degree with double majors in political science and history from Claremont McKenna College (Claremont, California) in 1976. He received his J.D. (1979) and LL.M. (taxation) (1992) degrees from the University of Denver College of Law and D.U. Graduate Tax Program. He has practiced law in Colorado in the fields of estate planning, family law and commercial litigation.

Under Clinton’s leadership, the Colorado Council for Economic Education offers an impressive array of well-attended economic education programs for teachers and for the community. In addition to his leadership as a director of the national Council and NAEE Executive Committee member, and as host of the CEE 2007 annual conference, Clinton has served as a mentor to many.  His contributions are frequently aimed at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the national network.  His willingness to share and exchange his many successful ideas, programs, and expertise has made him an invaluable and exemplary leader in economic education.

The Colorado Council for Economic Education is an independent affiliate of the national Council for Economic Education.  Each year, CCEE provides grade-appropriate curriculum and training for teachers to teach economics in their K-12 classrooms.  In 2009, more than 1,500 teachers attended CCEE seminars and economics education programs.  They reached an estimated 100,000 students.

CCEE also sponsors the Stock Market Game™, a simulation played by more than 10,000 students in Colorado this past year.
