Rich House, Poor House: The Economics of Marriage
Economists have pondered wealth and income distribution and its inequalities since Adam Smith. This class tries to answer the question: “Why are some households rich and others poor?’ You will learn about the components of household economics and the importance of partner choice. Why do we marry who we do? Discover the implications of division of labor, education, immigration, and well-being for households. What are the events that cause changes in household income?

 

  • Grade Level: 4th -12th Grade Business, Math, Consumer Studies, Economics and Social Studies

  • Date: January 24, 2009*

  • Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Location: Daniels Fund, Denver

  • Fee: $40 per seminar

  • Optional CSM Credit Fee:  $35 per Colorado School of Mines graduate credit hour. Payable to CSM. Full day attendance is required to receive credit.
