The Carbon Economy
What is the
real price of carbon? This class will help you and your students think about
the policy issues surrounding continued use of carbon-based fuels. Find out
how economic thinking can give insights into the debate over climate change.
Engage in a discussion about subsidies, taxes, technology and market
solutions. Economists are fond of pointing out that we should always
calculate the implicit costs (including opportunity cost) as well as the
explicit costs before making a decision. Learn how to guide your students
through the cost-benefit comparison of energy alternatives. Attend this
class to gain an understanding of why most developing nations are reluctant
to protect the environment.
