Economics for Educators
(ECON 501):
 Learn
how economics impacts and gives insights into current events. Explore the
workings of the market, government economic policies, and global trade from
the comfort of your home. This class is required for those teachers wishing
to earn the Certificate in Economic Education (either elementary or
secondary). The Certificate is a joint project of CCEE and the University of
Colorado, Colorado Springs and is a springboard to professional advancement
and classroom excellence. The course is designed to be K-12 “teacher
friendly.” Teachers read assignments during the week and take a quiz each
weekend. The format allows for ample opportunity to ask questions of the
professor and fellow teachers.

Support provided by:
Teachers can earn a certificate in Secondary
or Elementary Economic Education through a 12 credit-hour program offered by
CCEE and CU at Colorado Springs. Program includes Economics for Educators (3
credits), Methods for Teaching Economics (3 credits), and 6 credits of
elective economics classes. Classes marked with the diploma icon have
been pre-approved for the certificate.
