For 6-12 Grade Science and Social Studies Teachers

HSBC Institute on the
Environment & the Economy

This program for secondary teachers is designed to integrate the economic way of thinking into environmental science classes. Are there market solutions to environmental problems? Does society have to make an either/or choice between economic development and a clean environment? The class includes a full-day field trip to various Summit County sites that demonstrate how environmental impacts have been mitigated or eliminated by public and private enterprises.

  • Date: July 14-17

  • Location: Great Divide Lodge, Breckenridge

  • Class Fee: free ($100 refundable deposit due with app.)

  • Optional Credit Fee: 2 grad. Florida Gulf Coast Univ. sem. credit hrs., $200

  • Faculty: Don Fell, FTE Program Director; Robert Reinke, Ph.D., Exec. Director, South Dakota Council on Economic Ed; and Bradley Hobbs, Ph.D., Professor, Florida Gulf Coast University

  • Includes: Lodging, materials, some meals, and field trip on motor coach
