Why Are Some Nations So Rich?:

Even 233 years after Adam Smith, social scientists are still asking this fundamental question. Jared Diamond answered that national wealth is a consequence of “Guns, Germs, and Steel.” This class will explore these ideas and economic principles so that students will appreciate and understand how fortunate they are to live in a prosperous society. Teachers will learn about the Industrial Revolution, the growth of trade in the 20th Century and the development of market economies that have contributed so much to national wealth.
